Today, Lithotech is one of the leading manufactures of stone-kidneys removal devices based on NiTi alloy under a strategic agreement with Cook medical. Lithothech has today more than 5 different stone entrapment and extraction device, all baked by patents for Surgical devices for retrieval of foreign object from body. The company was founded in 2001 and is located in Katzerim with about 70 workers and 500 sq. meter facility FDA&ISO 9000 medical device approved. The company is developing a new product - “Lithotripter” using a new technology for stone shuttering and crushing. The Lithotripter is based on high voltage nanosecond electric pulse rather than laser.

Lithotech now has three product lines:
1. Lithoextractors. Different models of stone retrieval baskets had been developed to serve different operational needs. All Lithotech baskets are made of superelastic NiTi alloys. The NiTi basket size available are 2.5 to 5 Fr. The unique design of these baskets features an asymmetric shape along their central axis, and the way how the NiTi wires are interweaved and twisted together. This woven basket creates a special shape that will not allow stones to fall out at the extraction stage and, on the other hand, will ensure easy stone capture. Apart from this, special structure of stone extractors increases their springiness and flexibility that in turn help to reduce the traumatic influence on body tissues. 2. Lithotriptors: A new technology of stone shattering has been developed based on electrical breakdown caused by a high-voltage pulse of nanosecond duration. This technology allows to break the stone using relatively low energy (<0.5 joule). The preferred use is in cases where the stone has a relatively large size (hindering its free exit from urethra or its retrieval by stone extractor) and when the stone has sharp edges or the ureter shape prevents its free extraction. This new device offers a high-performance and minimally traumatic method of fragmenting a calculi. Lithotripsy is performed via a flexible probe of 2.5 - 5 Fr diameters. 3. LithoextractorTriptor. A combination of Lithoextractor and Lithotriptor designed for use in some cases where either of them alone is not enough. The small diameters of both the extractor and the triptor enable us to combine them into one 4 -5 Fr tool.
