The Company

DenTack was founded in 2006 by practical engineer Oz Vachtenberg (VP R&D) and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Shlomo Barak (Medical Director) to develop innovative dental implants.

The Market

Dental implants are artificial tooth root replacements used in prosthetic dentistry. Professor Per-Ingvar Brenemark discovered that implant made from titanium could integrate with existing bone tissue. Presence of adequate bone volume and significant implant anchorage capability are mandatory factors to replace missing teeth.

The world market for dental implants is estimated at $2.2 Billion in 2006 and growing in fast rate of 15%-30% per year (source: Merrill Lynch).

The worldwide market for implant-based dental reconstruction products will approach nearly $3.5 billion by 2010, according to a new study released today from Kalorama Information.

A recent Millennium Research report says that the dental implant and final abutment market in the U.S. will experience a compound annual growth rate of about 20% to generate more then $900 million in revenues by 2009.

The Need

The advantages of restoration a missing tooth are well known. However, the surgeons are facing with two main problems:

• Approximately every fourth candidates for dental implants are not eligible for standard implantation procedure due to insufficient bone quality or quantity. These candidates should undergo additional surgical procedure which comes with painful, expensive cost, low success rate and complication possibility.

• A long healing period of time, extend on 6 up to 9 months, until the surgeon meets his money and the candidate has full tooth restoration consider as a disadvantage.

The Product

DenTack is developing a new generation of unique and shorter dental implants which, for the first time, will offer a solution, with no additional surgical procedure, for patients ineligible for standard implantation.

Successful implant outcome is mainly the result of primary implant stability following placement, thus, implant stability is key to clinical success.

Based on several patents pending technology, DenTack provides a simple solution to the challenge of creating a shorter implant with enhance stabilization by implant's inner mechanism. By the same mechanism, the short implant increases his surface with an unprecedented way and by that the bone to implant contact becomes much greater then a regular implant.

The Opportunity

Both, the significant stabilization and the increasing surface offers:

• Short dental implant in untapped market - 25% of the market.

• More dentists could execute implantation in patients with anatomic structures limitations.

• Healing time reduction in long length implant configuration.

• Less visits with the dentist.

• The dentist meets his money sooner.

The Founders

Dr. Shlomo Barak is an internationally-known oral and maxillofacial surgeon, lecturer and educator. Active in the field for more than 25 years, he is a well-known participant at international conventions, and has authored and contributed to a range of articles and studies on oral surgery and implant technologies.

Oz Vachtenberg is a practical engineer who has been involved in the development of medical devices and quality instruments for 15 years. He has invested more than 4 years of his extensive engineering experience in the development of DenTack’s unique expandable implant.
