THE COMPANY Medasense Biometrics Ltd. is a seed-stage medical device company that develops the PMD - Pain Monitoring Device, a novel tool, which acquires in a non-invasive way, processes and uses multidimensional analysis of physiological signals in order to monitor the pain level.
BACKGROUND The assessment of pain is critical to ensure effective ongoing patient care. Currently pain is measured only by the patient subjective statement that describes the pain in scale between 1-10 (whenever the patients can communicate) or based on the vital signs and some other visual signs such as skin color, unstable movement, shivering (when the patient cannot communicate).
THE NEED Previous studies confirm that protocols using valid and reliable scoring systems can minimize the use of medicines for sedation and analgesia and thereby decrease patient recovery time, decrease the risk of side effects and reduce direct and in-direct costs[1]. Therefore there is a need for monitoring system with objective scale for diagnostic and tracking of the pain level.
PMD The significant advantage of PMD over other pain monitoring solutions is its reliable and far more accurate measurement of the patient's pain level. The company uses its unique algorithmic core ability and apply modern computational approaches never been used in the area of pain monitoring.
